Caroline
Denigan researches, consults and lectures in the areas of built and
virtual environments, specializing in gender analysis and developing
understandings of space and power from minority perspectives with the
belief that appropriate technological solutions can contribute to more
socially just outcomes for communities.
She has been active in the women’s and social justice movements
since 1980 has worked with many community based organizations on diverse
projects such as post occupancy evaluation, the changing system of public
housing, web site design, women’s health promotion and on research
projects for government at local, state and national levels.
Untill recently Caroline taught in the Architecture and Women's Studies Program at the University of Colorado Boulder. Her teaching responsibility
there includes courses entitled: Sex, Gender, Architecture; Immigrant Women in the Global Economy and Global Perspectives in Women's Health.
More recently Caroline returned to Australia to complete her doctorate at Deakin University focusing people who have built their own houses.
